Midlands Specialist Private Hospital is proud to introduce advanced Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) technology-bringing one of the highest levels of lifesaving heart and lung support closer to the communities we serve.
As the first hospital in Pietermaritzburg to offer an ECMO system capable of supporting adults, paediatric patients and neonates, and only the second hospital in KwaZulu-Natal with this capability, we are expanding access to highly specialised care for patients experiencing severe heart and lung failure.
Importantly, Midlands Specialist Private Hospital is also the only hospital in Pietermaritzburg providing paediatric ECMO, giving more children and families across Pietermaritzburg and the Midlands access to this advanced level of critical care without having to travel beyond the region.
